Professional background

Alexandra P. Kravets holds a D.Sc in Radiobiology and has 25 years of scientific research experience within radiobiology, Department of Radiobiology in Institute of Cell Biology and Genetic Engineering of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine. Scientific experience includes 30 years of research in areas of Biological System Analysis, Radiobiology and Radioecology. Alexandra P. Kravets has published more than 250 papers in reviewed journals and 5 monographs in the area of plant’ morphogenesis, radioecology, radiobiology, system analysis of biological processes, and problem of Chernobyl Accident. Her experience in higher education includes 19 years of teaching in T.Shevchenko Kiev National University (biogeochemistry of radionuclides, computation and mathematic methods of radiobiology) and Kiev Institute ofManagement and Information Technology (radioecology, radiobiology, modeling and prognosis in ecology).

Major achievements:

  • Development of the original three-module Ecological Model for Assessment of Radiological Consequences of agriculture land with different soil type radionuclide (137Cs and 90Sr) contamination.
  • Injection dose from 137Cs and 90Sr for different age members of Ukrainian population retrospective reconstruction and forecast;
  • Currently participate in epidemiological assessments of Chernobyl accident consequences.
  • Demonstrated plant root excretion ability to destroy “hot” particle and influence to pollutant mobility in soil;
  • Explored mechanisms for plant biomass potential of radionuclide accumulation
  • Developed new concept of biotic optimization of radionuclide involved in plant-soill. system

2001-2009 Professor in Radiobiology, T. Shevchenko Kiev National University. Developed and taught original courses on “Biogeochemistry of radionuclide” and “Computational and Mathematical methods in radiobiology”
2001- 2004 Professor in Radiobiology, Kiev Institute of Management. Lectured courses in Radioecology, Radiobiology, Modeling and Prognosis in Ecology.
1994 -2001 Associated Professor in Radiobiology, T. Shevchenko Kiev National University. Lectured on " Mathematic methods and modeling in radiobiology" and "Biogeochemistry of radionuclides".
