The conditions of surfase sterilization of Bidens pilosa L. seeds, collected in Ecuadorian highland (1200 m a.s.l.) tropical forest, were optimized. 25% “Belizna” solution using for seeds sterilization was effective for aseptic plants initiation on Murashige and Skoog medium. In vitro micropropagated plants rooted on the hormone free 1/2MS medium. Water and ethanolic B. pilosa extracts have revealed antimicrobial activity compared to the one of in vivo grown plants.
